“With a growing population and dwindling resources, fresh water security—especially water impounded in manmade reservoirs—has become a pressing issue worldwide. Society remains vulnerable to hydrologic disasters such as droughts and floods, which are expected to be further exacerbated under changing climate. Therefore, the research goals of our group are: to advance the frontiers of knowledge about hydrology and water resources, to push the envelope of interdisciplinary research, and to promote impactful studies for improving environmental sustainability. Using a combination of in situ observations, state-of-the-art remote sensing, and physically-based, spatially distributed high performance modeling approaches, our group is engaged in closing the knowledge gaps with regard to understanding the complex human-water-environment nexus.”
